FAQ

Q: Why does surrogacy have a higher success rate than adoption?

A: Parents and surrogates enter surrogacy relationships for different reasons and from different legal positions than people in adoptive situations. Surrogacy is essentially a contract for the service of a woman to carry a baby to term. She might be artificially inseminated with the father's sperm, or have the couple's own embryo implanted in her uterus so that she will give birth to a baby who is genetically theirs.

Q: What if surrogacy is not legal in our state?

A:
Arrange the surrogacy in a state where it is legal and the laws of your state may not matter.

Q: What kind of women become surrogates?

A:
Caring women who want to help people like you experience the joy of parenthood. The typical surrogate is a woman in her mid 20's to early 30's, working, married and the mother of her own children. She enjoys being pregnant and giving birth, but does not want a larger family.

Q: What happens if one or both of the intended parents die before the baby is born?

A:
If one intended parent dies, the other will take sole custody of the baby and fulfill the contract as if both were still living. If both intended parents die before the birth of the child, the surrogate mother will relinquish the child at birth to the person named in the W ills of the intended parents to serve as guardian of the child.

Q: If my surrogate changes her mind or if she does not get pregnant after trying for a while, will I have to pay you to help find me another?

A: No. Your agency fee covers all administrative costs to match you with other surrogates at no additional cost for two years from the date of the first medical procedure (retrieval/implantation).

Q: If my surrogate becomes pregnant, where will she deliver?

A: Most surrogates will deliver in their hometown. She usually chooses to see the doctor who has delivered her own babies. You would, however, be able to offer input into this decision. Legal and insurance factors can impact the doctor/state of delivery, but this would all be discussed prior to signing any surrogate contract. We help you through pregnancy, delivery and the final court proceedings.

Q: We found our own Surrogate/Egg Donor that we want to work with. Do we still need SurroGenesis USA?

A: Yes you do. Although finding the right Surrogate/Egg Donor to work with is a huge part of the journey, there are still many more details that we can help you with.
